There’s this myth about church: “People there are perfect & have all the answers for everything …” Well, we all know that’s not quite the truth. We don’t have it all together … how could we expect that you do? Life is hard. Awkward. We don’t have all the answers, and we’re OK with that.

Crosspoint is a community of individuals from Fishers and the surrounding communities seeking an environment to safely explore, pursue, and grow in what it means to follow God in our changing communities worldwide. We worship on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings, but we believe that real church happens outside of one designated auditorium… in community with others. We meet in multiple home locations during the week doing “LIFE TOGETHER” … caring, sharing, encouraging, serving, praying, growing & connecting. Not sure what you believe about God? … Jesus? That’s OK. We’re still growing in our understanding, as well … growing in what it means to follow and live God’s Way of Life in relevant ways in today’s culture.

We Believe…

There is a God, in fact, only one God, and this God is bigger and better and closer than you can imagine.

This God has revealed himself in three forms: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Nothing in creation “just happened,” this one God is the creator of everything. Now what’s fascinating is that this God made us in his image, which means we’re like him in many ways, but with one big difference — he’s God and we’re not. He’s loving and just and good and more than anything, desires to be in a relationship with us. Yet, forced love is not love, therefore, we have the freedom to respond to the relationship God’s initiated with us … or not.

By nature, we are disconnected from God by our sin. Put another way, many of the choices we make move us closer to God or further from him. Big choices, small choices, anything that is not in alignment with his character. It’s normal. We all do it – and we’ll continue to do so. And, even then, God continues to run after us and pursue us with nothing but love.

This is where Jesus comes on the scene. God loves us so deeply, that he sent his only son, Jesus, to die so the rest of us could live. Why would he do this? Well, the cost of making choices that separate us from God was spiritual death – at least until Jesus came and his death paid everyone’s debt. This one trans-generational, trans-cultural transaction on the cross provided an on-ramp for you and I to take advantage of the grace Jesus brings to us simply by following him as our savior and leader.

That’s some serious love – in fact some call it scandalous. We call it Grace! Because of that serious love, this gift from God is waiting for anyone who wants to receive it.

Have questions? That’s OK we do too. It’s why following Jesus is a journey, not a destination. Once you decide to step into it, it begins to change everything. You will begin to discover that life is so much better, and you are so much better at life! Jesus called it “new life.” It can start now and never stop.

LOVE GOD

HILL: LOVE GOD

We believe the single greatest purpose for our lives is to love God.

We express our love to God by orienting our lives to God’s way of life — all of our heart, mind, soul and strength — our entire being. These expressions result in an attractive life lived in passionate worship giving evidence to the greatness of the God of the Universe. We express our love in private, personal ways, as well as in public, corporate “gatherings.”

Luke 10:27 – The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

John 4:23 – But the time is coming and is already here when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for anyone who will worship him that way.

LOVE OTHERS

HILL: LOVE OTHERS

We believe that the community known as the church, is a full contact experience — it’s about people Loving and Serving others in life changing, need-meeting and relevant ways. When we Love Others, we reveal the very nature of who God is.

Using the gifts, talents, time relationships, and resources God has given us to serve others is the way of God. Loving God and loving others involves sacrifice, giving, and a servant heart. These are the characteristic of those who live the way of God.

1 Peter 4:10-11 – God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you. Are you called to be a speaker? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then God will be given glory in everything through Jesus Christ. All glory and power belong to him forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 4:11-16 – He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ. Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

LIFE TOGETHER

HILL: LIFE TOGETHER

We believe that “church = people.” Church is not a weekly event or something we “do” on Sunday. Church is more than just gathering in an auditorium for a common experience, because God created us for more than a gathering… for more than an event. We believe that God created us to live in authentic community with others.

The center of the message of God is about healthy relationships with God and with others. Doing “Life Together” is where life and authentic community happen – it is God’s way of life. Authentic community involves caring, sharing, giving, serving, growing, praying, influencing, and living our lives in authentic community together in such as way that it is beneficial to us and attractive and irresistible to those who are still exploring the way of God.

Genesis 2:18 – The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone…”

Luke 10:27 – The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Acts 2: 42-47 – They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

CHANGED LIVES

HILL: CHANGED LIVES

We believe that living the way of God is the best way to live. After all, the Creator knows best how we, the creation, are created to live. We believe that the God of the Universe desires to meet us right where we are and longs to bring salvation and harmony to our whole life. We believe this enables us to live the way we were created to live.

Life change happens from the inside out, and it is the work of God. Our part has to do with turning our independent nature toward one of dependance on the Creator of The Universe. It involves seeking, pursuing, confessing, submitting, growing, studying, and implementing our understanding of what it means to live “the Way of God” … ultimately restoring harmony between us and God. Living the way of God is more caught than taught, and happens best in community, as we pursue this life together. Life Change requires growing and changing — for anything organic must continue to change and grow… or it dies.

Jeremiah 29:11 – I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

Mark 1:8 – I’m [John the Baptist] baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism – a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit – will change you from the inside out.” (The Message)

John 10:10 – The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.

Romans 12:2 – Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

EXCELLENCE

HILL: EXCELLENCE

We believe excellence is about bringing your best to God’s work and to life in general – it’s God way of life for us!

Whenever we do anything as a church we want to bring our best — our “A game.” Whether it’s communication, music, making coffee, how we hold babies in the nursery or how we take care of the building, we want it to be our best.

Colossians 3:17 – Let every detail in your lives – words, actions, whatever – be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way. (The Message)

2 Corinthians 5:20 – We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. (The Message)

CULTURAL RELEVANCE

HILL: CULTURALLY RELEVANT COMMUNICATION

We believe the culture of today is constantly changing and that we have the responsibility to adapt(ing) and connect(ing) the story of God with the culture around us — which involves meeting people where they are with the life changing story of God, just like Paul… and oh yeah, Jesus!

Connecting faith and real life is an essential element of communicating what it means to live the “way of God” to those who are spiritually exploring God’s love and ancient truths. In every element of what we do, we will to meet people where they are — it’s God’s way. We are committed to using the communication mediums of our culture to communicate these timeless truths to the day-to-day life and culture of today through use of current media, movie segments, drama, creative expression of the arts, secular music, creative worship, and whatever the next medium may be.

Acts 17:16-32 – Paul in Athens at Mars Hill

1 Corinthians 9:22 – I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

Ecclesiastes 12:10 – The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.

MULTIPLICATION

HILL: MULTIPLICATION (GROWTH AT GOD’S SPEED)

We believe we are to make disciples – develop followers of God’s way of Life from the seeking generations our our culture. We believe this results in exponential kingdom growth.

We are to be Christ-followers reproducing Christ-followers; leaders reproducing leaders and a church reproducing vibrant new churches.

Matthew 28:19-20 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded.

Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 2:41 – Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church – about three thousand in all.

Acts 6:7 – “The Word of God increased; & the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly.”

Acts 9: 31 – Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied (NKJV)

Acts 12:24 – But the word of God grew and multiplied.

PROVISION

HILL: PROVISION

We believe that God is the giver of everything in life that is good. We believe God is up to something really big and we have the privilege to be a part of it. God will satisfy every need… that’s what God does.

The things of the world promise what they can’t deliver. We trust God to provide what he promises and to adequately satisfy every need. We will authentically discern our role in God’s work, and be satisfied with his provision.

Genesis 22:13-14 – Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

Acts 17: 24-25 – He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need there is. (NLT)

1 Timothy 6:17 – Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Matthew 6:33 – he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. (NLT)
