The Future You Week 1: Believing Leads to Becoming
This is the opportunity for your group will discover what God might be saying to you out of the weekend experience, and how you can respond through a group discussion. Let’s go!
Questions for discussion:
- We all have thoughts, hopes, aspirations about The Future You. Let’s talk about why we’re excited this. What is one thing you hope to get out of this series over the next four weeks?
PROVERBS 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart so is he
- Craig Groshell says that “Your life is headed in the direction of your strongest thoughts.” What has been your strongest thought this week? Good or bad, fun or serious? Just be honest and then share how has this affected or influenced your week? Anyone can begin.
- Let’s assume Craig Groshell is right, can you identify moments or experiences this week that that influenced your “strongest thoughts” in a healthier or not so healthy direction this week?
- This past weekend, Curt said that your “belief” about the person of Jesus will influence who you become. Answer either one of the next two questions:
- How has your belief about Jesus been changing and how is this influencing what you believe about yourself?
- What do you want to discover about Jesus over these next four weeks?
- All of us have thoughts around what you believe God believes about you. You were asked two questions this weekend:
What beliefs do you need to build in order to become?
What believes do you need to bury in order to become?
Any discoveries here?

Week 2: How To Get To Where You Want To Be
This is the opportunity for your group will discover what God might be saying to you out of the weekend experience, and how you can respond through a group discussion. Let’s go!
Questions for discussion:
1. When you were young, what did you want to be or do?
2. Share one thing that God has been speaking to you during this series?
Read Zachariah 4:10
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the lord rejoices to see the work begin
This weekend, we looked at a simple three step plan to begin to move closer and closer to The Future You:
-Start Small
-Schedule It
-Stick With It
- Which of these three things are you implementing or needing to start on this week? Share a step or action you’ve taken or plan to take.
- This weekend, Curt gave a visual example through the domino principle, that things that are of small origins can take down some big barriers over time. Whether a past success or future mountain you’re working on right now, as you observed that experiment what came to mind about your life?
- How has being a part of a group helped you grow in your relationship with God and with others?
Wrap-Up:
Identify one person in this group or your circle of influence to encourage this week through a text, note or call.

The Future You Week 3: How To Live Out Of Your Superpower
Week 3: How To Live Out Of Your Superpower
This is the opportunity for your group will discover what God might be saying to you out of the weekend experience, and how you can respond through a group discussion. Let’s go!
1. To begin answer one of the following two questions:
Are you working on anything interesting or exciting right now? Explain What is a project or initiative that would excite you right now? Why?
2. “What would you most like to change or improve about yourself?”
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 says this
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.
3. This past weekend, Curt asked the question: “Do you believe God designed you to bring unique contributions to the world?’ On a scale of 1 (not at all) to 10 (absolutely), what number would you pick and why?
Statistics show that we are most satisfied with life and engaged in our work when we are operating out of areas of the talents/strengths that God has hard-wired into our lives.
4. This weekend you were given 2 questions to better identify your strengths and be aware of the areas that are not areas of strength. What have you discovered from these two questions:
What are the common threads of how you’ve naturally thought, felt and behaved over time that have brought your energy?
What are the common threads that suck the life out of you?
5. What is one step you can take or are taking to better lean into your areas of strength
5.11+14.23 – Week 838 – Abbie Craig – “Facing The Future With Confidence”
Abbie Craig helps us see how we can face the storms of life with confidence.

The Future You Week 4: Facing The Future With Confidence
Week 4: Facing The Future With Confidence
This is the opportunity for your group will discover what God might be saying to you out of the weekend experience, and how you can respond through a group discussion.
Questions for discussion:
1. We all have them, times when what we’re expecting or hoping for doesn’t go according to plan. If anyone’s willing, take a moment to share about one.
Abbie brought out three distinct “moves” or actions from Mary Magdalene, in the days between Jesus’ death and resurrection that can help us face our future with confidence when the preferred future seems to falls apart. None are easy, a couple take some time, and some are more difficult than others – they are:
1) Giving ourselves space to grieve
2) Accepting what has changed
3) Letting go
2. Which of these three is most difficult for you and why?
In John 20:17, Jesus says to Mary, “Don’t Cling To Me.” It seems insensitive, but Jesus has a long game in mind so that Mary can lean in to what God has for her future.
3. We like to cling to the past. When things are disrupted, we like things to “go back” to normal or return to a previous “state” or “condition.” Is there anything that you have been clinging on to for too long? Is it possible that this may be preventing you from stepping into The Future You?
4. Let’s share some encouragement stories: think about a time when you felt like all plans were lost, but it turned into something new, life-giving, or unexpected for the current or The Future You? If you have a story, we’d love to hear it.
5. Think about the most faith-filled, confident version of yourself. What decisions would that version of yourself make this week?
Wrap-up
Be encouraged and take this picture from author, Suzanne Stabile with you this week:
“The spiritual journey is like driving down a long, dark road. You can only see as far as the headlights…but they will get you the whole way home.”

The Future You Week 5: It’s Not (That) Complicated
This is the opportunity for your group will discover what God might be saying to you out of the weekend experience, and how you can respond through a group discussion.
Questions for discussion:
- Let’s start where we ended last week; think about the most faith-filled, confident version of yourself. What decisions would that version of yourself make this week?
The Apostle Paul gives us three simple and clear things you and I can do every day to continue our adventure toward The Future You.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
-Colossians 4:2
First thing: Be Prayerful – Talk To God.
- Think about a time when you have recently talked to God or created space to hear from God, even if just a couple minutes. What kind of influence did this have on you and your day? Anyone can begin.
Second Thing: Be Watchful – Pay Attention – Be A First-Class Noticer.
- Jesus said there is an enemy that wants to steal, kill, and destroy. As you’ve been more attuned to being a noticer this week, how have you noticed the enemy seeking to stealing joy, kill or damper any excitement or hope or destroy confidence, upset peace or contentedness? Anyone willing to share, go for it.
- Your Heavenly father promises to go before and bring his presence and blessing throughout the day (Psalm 23) in every interaction, exchange, encounter, hill, and valley. Share about one specific moment where you saw God’s presence and blessing this week. Anyone can begin
Third Thing: Be Thankful.
5 What are you thankful for right now and how do you see God’s hand in it?
