This is the opportunity for your group will discover what God might be saying to you out of the weekend experience, and how you can respond through a group discussion.
*These questions are designed to help you create meaningful conversations. Adjust the questions as needed, and don’t feel like you need to answer all of them.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- Where do you feel most in your element, or “in the zone,” at your job? What is it about those tasks or aspects of your work that energize you?
- What stood out to you most from the message this past weekend? What do you believe God may be saying to you?
- In Colossians 4:17, Paul wants Archippus to carry out the ministry God has given him. How would a person go about discerning the ministry God has given him or her? How clear are you in what God has asked you to carry out?
- Read Romans 12:3-8. How would you define a spiritual gift? As you look at the list Paul gives, many of the things on it are things all Christ-followers should probably be doing (giving, serving, etc.). How do you know when something is a gift, either in your life or someone else’s?
- How much clarity do you have about what your gifts are? What have you learned about discovering them?
Gifts Listed in Romans 12
- PROPHECY: speaking God inspired words
- SERVING: helping others
- TEACHING: making the complicated simple
- ENCOURAGING: to put courage in others
- GIVING: practicing generosity
- LEADING: inspiring others in new directions
- MERCY: giving others a break
- How often and in what ways are you able to use your gifts at work?
- How would you advise someone who feels like they don’t get to use their gifts very often at their job? What questions should they be asking?
- What is one way you can live more into your gifting this week? E.g., is it developing a skill that correlates to your gifts? Getting help in discerning what your gifts are? Starting a new activity (or stopping one)?
- Wrap It Up. Close with Prayer. You can say something like, “God, thank you for inviting us into the work you are doing in our world. Help us to be able to identify our gifting this week and to live it out in ways that bless others. Give us the same humility and love you have, so we can share it and reflect it with the people around us. Amen.”
