Return On Investment
On Sunday, February 17, Lead Pastor Curt Walters gave the Crosspoint Tribe a unique opportunity to bless the community. During his teaching bags were passed with envelopes in them. Everyone in the auditorium took an envelope and when asked to open it, everyone found varying amounts of cash.
There was one simple thing asked to be done with the cash: Invest it. Then report it back.
Invest it in someone. Be a blessing. The way GOD is a blessing to us.
Reporting back will occur here.
Simply fill in the comment section and tell your story.
How did it make you feel?
What was the reaction to the people you blessed?
Anything goes…
So, go. Invest. And report.

i donated my “Ble$$ing” to a dog/cat rescue group. They were thrilled!… and plan to use it toward medical needs. I felt GREAT! Thanks!! 🙂
My boys used the money that they received in UpStreet to buy magazines to send to a family friend who is spending some time in prison and is able to receive mail. The conversations that this lesson sparked in our family were really unforgettable and just when I was doubting whether or not a 5 year old could really “get it”, I was proved very wrong! What a blessing a few dollars will be for an amazing Godly man who now has a small connection to our family and our hearts to serve him in this way, despite the mistakes he made. From our family, we thank you Crosspoint!
I had the pleasure of investing in a young lady who sat next to me on a flight back to Indianapolis. As a member of the Marine Corp, she was returning home from a long stint away from her family. I asked to her to allow me contribute to the joy of the homecoming, as she had shared with me in conversation that some of her immediate family members were really feeling the impact of our current economy. It was a great feeling to help pay it forward.
In about a week, we are heading to Haiti for a mission trip, so we decided to use the money to sponsor two children from Haiti through World Vision. We will use the combined $70 we received as our initial donation.
Last week one of my close friends was carrying laundry down her basement stairs, fell, broke her left ankle and severely sprained the right ankle. She’s down and can’t put any weight on her left ankle for at least a month. Yesterday was her first day home alone since the injury (her 3 year old was at daycare and her husband returned to work). She admitted to me, after I arrived with lunch, that she was nervous for her first day alone…and was so grateful that I offered to come spend some time with her and bless her with her mid-day meal.
This woman is so self-sacrificing, and is always willing to do for others in need. It was a blessing to me to be able to do for her, when she does so much for others.
I am fairly new to Crosspoint still, but there is no other church I’d have as my home. A dear friend of mine was the one who got me involved with Crosspoint. This individual has become a great shoulder to lean on, a good listening ear, and a wonderful friend. This individual has been a constant reminder that God does put people in our lives for a purpose. Without this individual I would not have been able to overcome some of my obstacles I have recently battled.
My blessing went towards this “special friend!” I purchased a bracelet with an infinity symbol and an anchor, because through it all, this friend has guided me but never held me down.
This bracelet will represent our friendship and our commitment to God and our strength to carry on no matter how bad we want to give up.
We read in the Current magazine Fishers edition that the Fall Creek township food pantry was in need of certain items. So, we pooled all of are money together and went shopping, and donated all of the items to Fall Creek township’s food pantry.
Our combined $10 went to buying trash bags that we then filled with recycling items and trash on a long stretch of road near our house. The road has been littered for quite some time with some very unappealing items (beer bottles, cigarette boxes, an ab roller, a giant foam penis, etc). While the picking up of the trash was a bit grueling, nature seemed very pleased:) I know our future jogs will be more pleasant for a time and we hope our neighbors will enjoy as well. So our $10 turned into 5 -39 gallon trash bags, or about #60.
Although I was not able to be in service this weekend and did not receive an envelope I have been blessed beyond measure through this challenge given to the Crosspoint tribe. I had the privilege to volunteer in one of the children’s areas over the weekend and was able to be a part of a brainstorming activity listening to kids talk about how they were planning to bless their peers around them.
As well as getting to hear about ways our Crosspoint kids planned to be the hands and feet of Jesus this week I had a child come up to me on Sunday after service and hand me the money she received because she felt like that was what she needed to do. As my week went on I was given a card by the parents of the girl from who had already given me her envelope. Inside the card was the money they had received from the weekend at Crosspoint because God had put it on their hearts to give to me as well.
I cannot put into words how blessed I have felt throughout this week. I have found myself working through some challenges and really just praying that God will provide and He sure has. He not only has provided financially this week but throughout my time at Crosspoint He has provided me with relationships and people to walk this journey with me–without the guidance from these people I would not be where I am.
We donated our $9.00 to Living Water International. This money will allow 9 people to have clean drinking water for A YEAR!!!!!
I have struggled this week with how to make the most of my $5 offering. Tonight, I finally decided what I will do tomorrow. My plan is to head over to a local dollar store and tape $1 bills to 5 boxes of children’s acetaminophen. It typically runs $5-6 at a regular drugstore. How hard it must be for families who are struggling financially to feel as if they are unable to relieve pain/fever from their child. I hope that my gift will help these families to provide comfort to the sick child and while relieving the financial burden.
The $10 received last Sunday has been donated to prevent child abuse in Indiana. I felt compelled to donate to this cause after the discussion at LTG regarding how God has given unequally in our lives. Although my childhood was marked with emotional and physical abuse, God has provided many blessings throughout my life. I hope with this donation will provide support to a family in need from entering the abusive cycle.
Gave to homeless person.
I added some money to my amount from Crosspoint and gave it to Living Water International.
I gave some of my allowance (in addition to my $1) to Living Water International. (age 9)
We added our $5 to a fund with an organization called Living Water International to help build a water well for a village in another part of the world where they typically gather water from a murky mud hole. On average, it only costs $1 per person per year to provide safe clean water through providing a pump-style community water well. Once enough money is collected and the well is built, 5 people will have access to clean drinking water for one year from our $5 contribution.
My daughter & I received $25. Her elementary school sponsors a little girl with spina bifida. ‘All week long while trying to decide what to do with our money stories about this little girl kept popping up, so I finally decided it was God’s way of telling us that’s what we should do with the money! On Friday my daughter took the money to her school to donate to this family, as they are collecting money for some medical equipment. It was great to get my 8 year old daughter involved and decide together what to do with the money!
Our son matched the $5 that he received and put that together with $5 my husband was given. My husband had to travel back home to the Dominican Republic. He exchanged dollars for pesos and distributed 600 pesos to children who stand on the streets asking for money.
I was able to bless a hardworking, friendly Qdoba worker with a $10 tip. I could tell that it made her night!
Lauren & I thought of the same person immediately. We gave our combined $105 to a very deserving and hard working teacher. Dan gave the $5 he received to a young coworker of his who is also going to school full time to help with gas money.
Our son gave the money he received in UpStreet to a neighbor collecting money for a child with spina bifida. This was the young boy’s first time collecting money for another person and he was very excited to get money for the cause. The family of the child with spina bifida hope to purchase a shower lift with the money raised. A double blessing!
My husband and I combined our money and bought breakfast/coffee for the morning shift at his work place. The workers were thrilled; reminding us that small acts of kindness toward others can make a difference!
Our Life Together group decided to pool the funds we received and find a
way to change the trajectory of someone life. By each person in our
group matching what they received, we were able to make a donation to the organization Operation Smile. Operation smile is a force
of medical professionals and caring hearts from all over the world who
provide safe,
effective reconstructive surgery and related medical care for children
born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate. Thanks
to Crosspoint, we were inspired to put together enough money to pay for
the surgery of one child.
We donated our combined $15 to World Vision which will provide fifteen hearty meals to hungry children in the US.
My daughter received $1 and I received $5. I recently read an article in the “Current in Fishers” publication about the food pantry in the Fall Creek Township trustees office . One of the items listed as a need was canned meat. We went to Sam’s club and purchased a bulk package of canned chicken and will donate it to the food pantry.
My wife saw a post on FB that the Wheeler Mission women’s shelter had an increase in moms with young kids and were desperately in need of wipes and size 5 diapers so we were able to use the money to buy boxes of diapers for the kids living in the shelter.
We sent a $20 additional gift to our Compassion Child.
We combined our ten dollars and donated it to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital. For every dollar donated at Wendy’s, we received a key fob for a free Frosty with every purchase. The ten fobs are good for the remainder of the year and will be awarded to ten students honored at Citizens of the Month at a local school.
Carson received $2. We asked him if there was a special person in his life that he wanted to do something for and he chose his brother Austin. He decided to buy him an ice cream treat. We explained that this meant that he did not get any ice cream himself. It was very hard for him to sit there and watch his brother eat it but it was a great teaching moment!
I was in San Jose, CA last week and my flight home was cancelled. The best the counter clerk for airline could do was to shuttle me to San Francisco airport for a “cross your fingers seat” on a flight. The complimentary shuttle was a 20 year old minivan stuffed full of angry business people all of whom were on the cancelled flight. I gave the driver the $5 I had been given. He looked stunned.
From Dewayne and Brenda: We doubled our $10.00 to $20.00 and gave it to a waitress at O’Charleys. We had been building a relationship with her over a year. Last week, she told us her story . . . a single mother with one daughter, going to school to become a nurse, and living with her parents at the present time. We ask for her every time we go to O’Charleys.
As a family we had $15 combined dollars, we decided to match the total and divide between a donation to Wheeler Mission and a donation to the UN Food program in conjunction with an activity with our daughter’s Girl Scout group. The activity with the Girl Scout group had already been planned – so I really feel like the Crosspoint Tribe really help this become a much bigger impact.
