LOSING OUR RELIGION
The Christian religion has been seduced by the very mindset Jesus opposed. What Jesus taught wasn’t about empty rituals or doing things because “that’s how they’ve always been done.” He didn’t come to start a new religion called “Christianity.”
He came to revolt.
What he taught was about a way of life.
About living a particular lifestyle that clashes with the values the world holds dear.
This summer, we losing our religion and attempting to live life differently.

We don’t use the word “idol” much anymore unless we’re talking about American Idol. But, the truth is, we all have idols we let take hold of aspects of our lives. They may not be gold cows or little chubby fat guy statues, but anytime we try to fill a void in our souls with a thing or a person other than GOD, that thing becomes an idol. We judge. We make calls. We devalue when we do it. But, Jesus taught of a different way. A focus on love. Our minds sometimes just go against this. It’s been engrained into us in our western cutlure that we’re supposed to do it on our own. We’re supposed to be unique. To stand out. But, that’s not what Jesus taught. He taught to live life with people. To ask for help. To learn and grow with others around you. At the core of Jesus’ teaching was a sense of community. We’ve lost that. And, we want to back.

We’ve all been affected by the effects of sex. We’re desensitized to it every day in the media. And historically, human beings have missed the mark. GOD created sex, so we can know that GOD loves for us to have sex, but within a certain set of boundaries, that when disregarded, we fall into the trap of sexual sin. This week Curt discusses and lifts up the marriage covenant and GOD’s intended design for sex.
