UpStreet – Time Out
Contentment is being happy with what you have and not wanting more.
Memory Verse: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 (NIrV)
Feb 7: Join us as we talk about the importance of being on God’s team. We will take a look at Peter’s life in Acts 2 & 3 and the example of the disciples and how they worked together to bring others to Jesus.
Bottom Line: God calls us to work together as a team.
Feb. 14: We will look at the story of the Prodigal Son. Luke 12:15 NIrV, ‘Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against wanting to have more and more things. Life is not made up of how much a person has.” Together we will learn that clothes, money and stuff do not make us happy or more special.
Bottom Line: God loves you for who you are not what you have.
Feb. 21: Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. What are treasures in heaven? How does our stuff keep us from storing up treasures in heaven? Jesus doesn’t want us to be sad and let down by the stuff in the world. He wants us to get treasure that will last forever. We will learn that material things will eventually disappoint us, but things that God give us will not.
Bottom Line: Take time to think about what lasts forever.
Feb. 28: Proverbs 22:7 ‘Rich people rule over those who are poor. Borrowers are slaves to lenders.’ We will do several activities to help better understand the concept of money/debt and recognize how reducing the dollars spent on things we want will give us more to spend on stuff others need.
Bottom Line: Take time to make wise choices.
March 6: 2 Corinthians 9:7 ‘You should each give what you have decided in your heart to give. You shouldn’t give if you don’t want to. You shouldn’t give because you are forced to. God loves a cheerful giver.’ We will explore different ways we can cheerfully love others – and serve someone this week without using money.
Bottom Line: Take time to give to others.
March 13: 2 Corinthians 9:11 ‘You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.’ We will focus on living thankful lives, mainly through prayer.
Bottom Line: Take time to pray and thank God.
March 20: John 13:34-35 ‘”A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” We will learn about the local church, and decide how they can be generous now and in the future.
Bottom Line: Take time to be generous.
March 27: Happy Easter! We will celebrate that we can have hope because Jesus is alive! In John 20:1-18, we’ll find out that all the promises that Jesus made are true. Everything that Jesus said and did lead to this moment. He paid the price for our sin on the cross and came back to life making it possible for us to be with God forever!
Bottom Line: Whatever happens, remember God loves you!
