FISHERS, IND.—As the sight of new businesses and housing developments have become the norm along Olio Road, another construction has begun that hopes to provide something a little different for the community.

Crosspoint Church, founded in March 2007, has broken ground on its new building at the corner of Olio and Silverstone Drive, across the street from Hamilton Southeastern High School. The goal of the new home is to be more than just a building for church services.

“The Crosspoint Launch Pad is, at its core, a community gathering place,” said Curt Walters, lead pastor of Crosspoint. “Church isn’t about 75 minutes in an auditorium. It’s about starting a conversation that helps explore new pathways to God that begins to impact all aspects of our lives.”

The 16,000 square foot facility being built on roughly 4.5 acres will be used for weekend services, but will also provide a “third space” environment, for use by the community throughout the week. It will feature an open lobby concept, complete with comfortable chairs, free Wi-Fi, an indoor playground for kids to use and a coffee bar for the parents to enjoy while they oversee their children. The building is expected to be completed by summer of 2014.

Crosspoint has spent the past six years renting space in the auditorium and select classrooms of Fall Creek Intermediate, also located on Olio Road. Through the years, what began as a handful of attendees, has now turned into hundreds of people exploring God, seeking truth and authentic community at Crosspoint.

“We were outgrowing the space at Fall Creek Intermediate School,” said Walters. “We are beginning to hit the maximum capacity in the auditorium and children’s environments, where guests don’t feel like there is room for them.”

This growth has resulted in Crosspoint adding a second service and expanding its children’s environments, as well as helping start another church campus in the Pendleton community.

“With this growth and the desire for Crosspoint to be a hub for connection in the community, we knew the time was now to make the move into a more permanent facility that will in essence, be a Launchpad for the ministries of Crosspoint in our community.”

There is a God, in fact, only one God, and this God is bigger and better and closer than you can imagine.

This God has revealed himself in three forms: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Nothing in creation “just happened,” this one God is the creator of everything. Now what’s fascinating is that this God made us in his image, which means we’re like him in many ways, but with one big difference — he’s God and we’re not. He’s loving and just and good and more than anything, desires to be in a relationship with us. Yet, God so values that the human experience have both love and choice, that he took what has been called the Divine Risk. We have the freedom to respond to the relationship God’s initiated with us … or not.

We are free to choose to live outside of the realm of the life God created for us, as He reveals in the Bible, and when we do so, we are disconnected from Him by our sin. Put another way, many of the choices we make move us closer to God or further from him. We all do it – and we’ll continue to do so. And, even then, God continues to love and pursue us.

This is where Jesus comes on the scene. God loves us so deeply, that he sent his only son, Jesus, to die so the rest of us could live. Why would he do this? Well, the cost of making choices that separate us from God was spiritual death – at least until Jesus came and his death paid everyone’s debt.

That’s serious love – in fact some call it scandalous – we call it Grace!

Because of that serious love, this gift from God is waiting for anyone who wants to receive it. God gives grace freely and abundantly, and as for us, we need only to decide whether or not to believe and receive this stuff. If we decide to believe it, it begins to change everything — Jesus called it “new life.” It can start now and never stop.

It’s OK to have a lot of questions along the way, we’re still growing in our understanding as well. Although God reveals things to us (including what he’s revealed about himself in the Bible), he remains mysterious and wonderful.

The last thing that Jesus came to do was start a new religion. He came to bring us back into harmony with God – to make life as it should be. His teaching evidence this. We want to know what he taught & what the Bible teaches. We are connected back to the beginning of time… and what we learn now will shape the future as our children will know it. LISTEN HERE >>

We sing when we worship at Crosspoint. It’s not the only for of worship. Singing is to worship as Q-tip is to cotton swab. It’s just one of many forms. Worship is more than just an hour in an auditorium…
It’s more than singing… acting… art… feeling… It’s about choosing to be part of something bigger than ourselves. MORE >>
