A Journey Home // The 2012 All-Church Journey

At some point in our lives, we’ve all felt like we didn’t quite belong. So we put up a good front. But no matter how in-control the world sees us, we can still find ourselves feeling alone or exhausted by the effort.
THIS CAN CHANGE.
What if it was possible to feel completely at home, no matter where you were? What if you could always feel understood, valuable, protected, and loved? No matter where you are right now, you can.
For 6-weeks beginning this October we’re joining with 60,000+ other people all over the Midwest, from kids to adults, we’re all taking a look at what it means to JOURNEY HOME.

PODCASTS

WK 295 // OCTOBER 14, 2012 // THE PROMISE OF HOME

We all have baggage. Stuff we carry around that we let define who we are. Some of it is just a straight up lie. But, still we believe it and it builds into our orphan tendencies… because our orphan tendencies are in our nature. Listen is as Curt lays out the nature of our orphan-ness from the beginning of time and explains that there is a promise that you can go HOME. (Sorry for the low quality audio this week… but it’s still worth listening to.)

Also, watch Jen Dickerson’s personal story used on 10.14.

WK 296 // OCTOBER 21, 2012 // KNOW YOUR DAD

We all have cravings. Things that we use to try and fill a void that we have in our hearts. But, to truly fill that void, we have to come to know a GOD who says, “I don’t care what you’ve done. I don’t care where you’ve been. You’re my son. You’re my daughter. You can come Home.”

WK 297 // OCTOBER 28, 2012 // TRUST YOUR DAD

As people we like to be acknowledged. Appreciated. Approved of. And at some point in time we all looked (and may still are looking) for that approval from our dads. But, maybe he wasn’t around. Maybe he was (and is) your biggest fan. No matter where you relationship with you dad has been or is today, there’s a pretty good chance it’s influenced your relationship with your Heavenly Father. Listen as Curt explains that we can live free from the need for approval by accepting GOD as the ultimate father figure.

Also, check out Aaron Wolford’s real life story of how all this has played out in his life.

WK 298 // NOVEMBER 04, 2012 // RETURN HOME

For 3 weeks we’ve been discussing the things that have kept up from home. In this week’s teaching we look at why we can come home. There’s a father there that loves us. We’re the ones that ran out. We’re the ones that screwed up. Yet, he continues to look for us. And, he runs after us. Listen in as teaching team member Julie Buchtenkirch dives into the story of the prodigal son’s return home and how that compares to our lives today.

WK 299 // NOVEMBER 11, 2012 // PLACE AT THE TABLE

Sometimes the morning after we return home, we find that we’re falling back into our old issues. We get so focused on our past that we forget about our present, our future, and that fact that we’ve been invited to a place at the table with no strings attached. This week we experienced a place at the table. Listen as Curt invites some of his family and his spiritual family to the table as they share what it’s like to be part of a family together. Also, watch the Coming Home: The Morning After video (the audio will be heard during the podcast, but if you’re wondering what it looked like, see below).

WK 300 // NOVEMBER 18, 2012 // REMAIN AT HOME

In the final week of the journey, we took a look at how to remain at home, feeling accepted and approved by GOD. Taking a good look at the things that Jesus told us to do, the first is “to be baptized.” So, as we wrap up the series, we opened the pool for baptism. Listen as Curt explains what baptism is and how following in this step that Jesus tells us to do, can be the beginning of the a whole new relationship with GOD.

Also, watch the 2 videos interviews of Ryan Schwartz as he explains what Home is like to him and then how GOD met him in a tough time in his life a few years ago (audio will also be heard in the podcast).

WHAT’S A JOURNEY?

A journey is a 6-week teaching series where everyone in the church gets on the same page. From the youngest kid’s class that has a lesson to the oldest person attending a weekend service, we’ll all dive in together on what it looks like to find ourselves at home, no matter where we are.

To experience the most out of a journey, someone’s week would look something like this:

Each part of the weekly rhythm is important, but possibly the most crucial piece of the journey is the small group discussion component.

Below you’ll find a quick reference guide to all the groups we’re hosting and what side of town they’re on.

If you’d like to join one, simply follow the links below to find a group that’s right for you (and/or your family) then register. We’ll take it from there.
